'Lemmy' Movie Certified Gold In Germany

The acclaimed documentary examining the life and career of the MOTRHEAD frontman and rock icon Lemmy Kilmister, "Lemmy: 49% Motherf**ker, 51% Son Of A Bitch", has been certified gold in Germany for sales in excess of 25,000 copies.

Director/producer Wes Orshoski told BLABBERMOUTH.NET, "We shot a lot of footage of Lem and the band in Germany, where there's incredible love for him and the band. The live version of 'Ace Of Spades' in the film, for example, was shot in Berlin. The fans there were/are crazy, and the parties at the White Trash nightclub were even better!"

Added co-director/producer Greg Olliver: "Lemmy always said he and MOTRHEAD could count on German fans, and this is just further proof of that."

"Lemmy: 49% Motherf**ker, 51% Son Of A Bitch" sold around 3,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 1 on Billboard's "Top Music Videos" chart. In addition, both the DVD and Blu-ray disc were among the top 10 best-selling documentaries on Amazon.com the week of its release.

Fans and critics alike are devouring the DVD and Blu-ray extras, which stretch to a staggering 4.5 hours of bonus content. Olliver and Orshoski create an intimate portrait of a man revered by his longtime fans as well as musicians spanning the musical spectrum. Lemmy has more than a few stories, often littered with drugs and alcohol, to share about his electrifying career with MOTRHEAD. He's paved the way for countless metal bands, and from his favorite barstool at the Rainbow to his cluttered apartment filled with memorabilia, Lemmy continues to inspire a new generation of metalheads.

Even before MOTRHEAD began, Lemmy had a lifetime of experiences under his belt he saw THE BEATLES at the Cavern Club, served as a roadie for Jimi Hendrix, and played in both Merseybeat and psychedelic rock bands. Although he's 65, this rock god still acts not a day over 25 and doesn't plan to put down his Rickenbacker bass anytime soon.

Filmed over the course of three years, "Lemmy" made its world premiere at the 2010 South By Southwest Film and Music Festival, and has since collected rave reviews at film festivals around the globe.
